Some memories fade with time.  Others wait.

As a teenager growing up in Amarillo, Jimmy witnesses something he was never supposed to see  - a man burying a body beside a lonely Texas road.  He tells no one.  Years become decades, but the memory refuses to stay buried.  Jimmy builds a life, raises a family, and grows older, yet one question continues to follow him:  What really happened that day - and what did his silence make him responsible for?

Decades earlier, during the hardships of the Great Depression, a young German immigrant named Randolf and an Amarillo girl named LuAnn find friendship and love as a city struggles to transform an old landfill into something beautiful.  their lives carry them through choices neither could have imagined, from the dusty plains of Texas to a world moving toward war.

Across generations, ordinary people face extraordinary moments. They love.  They fight.  They make mistakes.  they carry secrets.  And sometimes they spend a lifetime trying to understand the choices they made when they were young.

At the center of it all stands an old tree in Thompson Park, its bark carrying two names carved there long ago:

Randolf + LuAnn

Some stories are written in history.

Some are carved into trees.

And some remain buried until someone finally asks:

I don't think I did it.
